International Student Orientation events are open to NEW McGill international undergraduate, graduate, and exchange students starting in September 2018.

Learn about learning!

Attend this session on Academic Culture for International Students to deepen your understanding of academic culture in Canada (and specifically at McGill). Learn how to better understand and communicate with your new classmates, TAs, and professors.

Drawing on several models, we will address cultural differences - and similarities - and how they impact your actions and reactions both inside and outside the classroom.

McGill International Student Services staff cordially invites NEW International Students to a hallowed McGill tradition: its 33rd annual Welcome Reception for New International Students. 

This special event, in your honor, will provide you an opportunity to meet University officials, members of the Montreal Diplomatic Corps, and other new students. Registration by invitation in early September.

Get your Social Insurance Number!

You need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to work in Canada.

Service Canada will be on-site in order to issue Social Insurance Numbers to International Students. Please have your original study permit and passport on-hand
