Documents Required to Apply for PGWP

Application Forms IMM5710 – Inside Canada Required if applying with a valid study permit from inside Canada.
IMM1295 – Outside Canada
  1. Required if applying for the PGWP from outside of Canada or in Canada on visitor status.
  2. If in Canada on visitor status, apply for a PGWP “from outside Canada” category from your country of citizenship

Identity Documents Valid Passport
  1. Ideally, valid for full PGWP duration.
  2. You can apply to extend your PGWP after you renew your passport, if your passport expires before PGWP duration.
Proof of Study Completion Program Completion Letter
  1. Proof of Enrolment/Graduation Letter OR PGWP Letter.

Official e-Transcript
  1. Request on Minerva.
  2. Transcript must show “Degree Granted” if Senate has met to confirm your degree.
  3. If applying before the Senate meeting, final grades must appear without any "Degree Granted" remark.
Language Requirement Language Test Results (CLB or NCLC)
  1. Starting November 1st 2024, all PGWP applicants will be required to prove either:
    1. English language skills with a minimum level of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 7 OR
    2. French language skills with a minimum level of Niveaux de competence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 7 in in all 4 language areas.

Biometrics Proof of Biometrics
  1. Your PGWP will not be issued beyond the validity of your biometrics.
  2. If your biometrics are set to expire before the expected duration of your PGWP, you may want to provide new biometrics now to avoid having to extend your PGWP.

Medical Exam (Optional) Proof of Medical Exam
  1. For certain jobs, you must first complete a medical exam with a panel physician and include proof of the medical exam (e-Medical receipt) in the PGWP application.
  2. For example, if your job requires you to work closely with the public, particularly vulnerable populations such as the elderly, the sick, or young children, you will need to complete a medical exam and obtain a PGWP without conditions preventing you from working in certain fields prior to starting your job.
