Case 1: Applying from inside of Canada
In order to submit a PGWP application from inside of Canada, you must have a valid study permit.
Therefore, your deadline to submit a PGWP application from inside of Canada depends on when your study permit will become invalid.
Your study permit will become invalid on whichever of the following two dates comes first:
- 90 days after receiving proof of completion of studies (i.e., the date you are issued a PGWP letter from Service Point or the day after Senate meets to approve your degree and you are able to generate a Proof of Graduation Letter on Minerva) OR
- The expiry date on your study permit
IMPORTANT: If you are not able to apply for your PGWP before your study permit will become invalid, contact ISS to go over your options.
Case 2: Applying from outside of Canada
Your deadline to submit a PGWP application from outside of Canada is:
- 180 days from receiving proof of completion of studies (i.e., the date you are issued a PGWP letter from Service Point or the day after Senate meets to approve your degree and you are able to generate a Proof of Graduation Letter on Minerva).
IMPORTANT: If you will not hold a valid study permit at some point within the 180 days after receiving proof of completion of studies, contact ISS to go over your options.
