You will be living in Montreal during your studies at McGill; therefore you will not be considered a non-resident, you will be a temporary resident and it is mandatory for you to be covered under the International Student Health Insurance.
All students are automatically charged a full-year fee ($906) for the International Health Insurance. As an exchange student in order for your premium to be adjusted, you must confirm your health insurance coverage on Minerva as of August 15th, 2015 for fall 2015 term and as of December 15th, 2015 for winter 2016 term. You will be able to select your coverage for 1 semester or 2 semesters depending on the duration of your stay at McGill.
Minerva ⇒ Student ⇒ International Student Health Insurance Coverage Form to confirm your coverage.
If you are on exchange for 1 semester, you will be covered from August 15th, 2015 to December 31st, 2015 for fall 2015 term or from December 15th, 2015 to April 30th, 2016 for winter 2016 term and your health insurance fee will be adjusted to $302 CAD.
If you are on exchange for 2 semesters, you will be covered from August 15th, 2015 to April 30th, 2016 and your health insurance fee will be adjusted to $604 CAD. You will be able to view this adjustment in your Account Summary by Term on Minerva – not your eBill.
Doing this will allow you to pick up your health insurance card at Service Point upon arrival at McGill University.
