Labour Management Relations & Human Resources

As of Fall 2023, the major program will be retired. Students who have started the major prior to Fall 2023, can continue with the old curriculum.

Overview of Labour Management Relations & Human Resources

Offered as both a major and a concentration, Labour-Management Relations and Human Resources will give you the tools needed to practice human resource management, particularly in a unionized environment.

Not only will Labour-Management Relations and Human Resources give you basic training in various aspects of labour relations and the labour market, but you will also be able to understand labour law at the federal and provincial levels, negotiate a collective agreement, administer union contracts, settle grievances and prepare to participate in the arbitration process.

It will give you a general understanding of the factors affecting employer-employee relations, both at the individual level and in relation to the socio-economic context in which they occur. You will also learn the basics of human resources issues and planning.
