Incoming exchange students

Welcome Incoming Exchange Students!

The international exposure and academic experience gained by taking part in student exchange are highly worthwhile, both for Desautels Faculty of Management students going abroad for a term or a year, as well as for students coming to McGill to gain exposure to international management at Desautels.

Courses

All courses are offered in English.

Exchange students are expected to follow the majority of their courses within the Faculty of Management. However, students are permitted a maximum of 2 courses per term in other Faculties (Arts, Science), provided those Faculties have no objections. Students should register for courses in other Faculties on their own using Minerva.  Please make sure you verify course pre-requisites by clicking on the courses CRN's (Minerva).

In order to get registered for your management courses, please fill out the PDF icon Exchange Student Course Request Form

Due to high course demand exchange students are allowed a maximum of 2 courses in each area per term. Please note that we cannot guarantee enrollment in any course. Enrollment is often subject to class size limitations. There are no waitlists for management courses.

Academic expenses

Exchange students are required to pay for course materials and textbooks. This could average up to $1,000 per term. Some courses include copyright fees and these fees are charged automatically to your student account when you buy a course pack at Dave’s store in the Concourse of the Samuel Bronfman Building. You will know how much this fee is when you buy the course pack (anywhere from $6.00 to $150.00). This fee may only appear in your student account a few weeks into the term. Failure to pay all charges that are on your account will result in McGill not releasing the transcript to your home university. Please make sure to clear your account before end of term.

Desautels Exchange Network (DEN)

A student run organization which organizes events for you to meet other Exchange Students as well as our students going out on exchange, and of course some of the local students.
