About the Program
Student driven. Academically supported. Professionally advised.
The McGill Not-For-Profit Consulting program began in 2008 with the idea that students should have the opportunity to apply lessons from the classroom to the real world while giving back to the Montreal community. The result is a partnership between the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill and experts from two leading global consulting firms, providing committed students with an amazing opportunity to gain real world consulting experience in a supportive environment.
In the program, selected graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to work on a project with a local NGO of their choice (see Past Projects). The program begins in October and ends in April, but is graded solely during the Winter term. Students receive 3 credits for the following undergraduate and graduate courses:
Mission & Objectives
The program aims to make a positive impact on the Montreal community by matching McGill students with critical social and environmental causes and the organizations devoted to them.
The goals are:
- to provide students with a structured and supportive environment to experience the consulting process and lead to a positive change in the community;
- to give students hands on experience working with meaningful volunteer and mentorship opportunities; and
- to expand McGill's impact on the local community.
