Thomas Posen is a 5th year Ph.D. Candidate in Music Theory (ABD) where he is currently working to his complete his dissertation, "Beethoven's Eroica Sketches: A Form Functional Perspective" under the mentorship of Prof. William Caplin. His scholarly work can be categorized into three primary streams: Formenlehre and the study of Beethoven’s compositional process through the study of his sketches; the history of music theory; and music and multimedia. He holds a dual concentration M.M. in Music Theory and Piano Performance, a B.M. in Piano Performance, and a B.A. in Physics in Astrophysics, summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico.
