Program policies

Integrity

Students are expected to uphold McGill's values regarding academic integrity and should inform themselves of University policies relating to their rights and obligations. Guidelines may be found in the Handbook on Student Rights and Responsibilities.

Time Limit

The time limit to complete the CPA Program at Desautels is three years from date of entry.

Confirming your acceptance on the McGill Application Management system

Any applicant who fails to confirm on the McGill Application Management system (Summer admission) by the date specified in the acceptance letter will forfeit their space in the program, and will be required to re-apply.

Inactive Registration

Students who withdraw from all courses in a semester are not considered to be registered.

Should a student fail to register and complete CPA courses in three consecutive semesters (one year), the student will be asked to withdraw from the program. The student would then be required to re-apply to the program should they wish to continue at some future date.

Failure Policy

The Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Regulations stipulates that students who receive one course failure will be put on probation. One more failure (i.e. two in total) and the student will be required to withdraw from the program. The failure of a supplemental exam in a course is considered a second failure.

There is an appeals process which can be applied for if a student is required to withdraw from the program. Further information can be obtained through the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.

Re-Read Policy

You have the right to discuss any work for which you have received a grade. The CPA Office arranges for students to review their final examinations each term after the final grades have been posted.

In order to apply for a re-read, you are first required to review your final examination, after which you may contact the instructor if you feel an error has been made. If the instructor is not prepared to change your grade, you may then proceed to apply for a re-read.

To request a re-read of your final examination paper, you must request a re-read through the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies within 30 days after the final grades for the course have been posted.
