Why choose the McGill GCPA?

Newly accepted students

Congratulations

Welcome to the McGill Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting (GCPA) Program

Chartered Professional Accountants play leadership roles in public practice, business, industry, government and education. We hope you will find our program both challenging and rewarding.

Accepting Your Offer of Admission

Students admitted to the GCPA Program are required to submit a Registration Deposit Fee of $300 CAN (Visa or Master Card) when confirming acceptance on uApply. This fee is applied towards tuition fees, and is non-refundable.

Deadline for confirming your acceptance and Registration Fee Deposit is March 1, 2021 or the date stated on your conditional letter of acceptance.

Any applicant who fails to confirm on uApply by the date specified in the acceptance letter will forfeit their space in the program, and will be required to re-apply.

Steps

  • Accept your offer of admission on-line using your uApply account, and pay the confirmation deposit where applicable.
  • You must make arrangements to have your final, official transcript sent from the institution(s) you attended.

McGill accepts electronic final official transcripts and proof of graduation sent through a recognized digital credential service provider or directly from the issuing institution(s).

Recognized digital credential service providers include (but are not limited to):
    • Parchment
    • Credentials Solutions
    • Bureau du cooperation interuniversitaire (BCI)
    • National Student Clearinghouse
    • Digitary
    • My eQuals
    • eScrip-safe

If it is not possible for documents to be sent via one of the service providers listed above, McGill will accept final official transcripts and proof of graduation sent directly from the issuing institution to officialschooldocs [at] mcgill.ca. Documents that are not required or that are determined to be unofficial will not be accepted.

Transcripts in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by an English or French translation prepared by the school. If your school cannot provide a translation, you must send a translation from a certified translator.

You may be required to upload course descriptions for math and science courses via Minerva.
  • Make sure that you read carefully your offer of admission letter and familiarize yourself with any outstanding conditions. Please take the necessary steps to address all outstanding conditions as early as possible.

Professional Education Program

In addition to being registered in the GCPA Program at McGill students must also register as a candidate with the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (OCPAQ). Registration will give you access educational material, and the examination software as well as formally register you as a candidate in the profession. You will need to register as soon as you start the GCPA program in May, but we recommend you do not register before April 1st to avoid paying membership dues for the 2021-2022 year (the OCPAQ membership year begins on April 1st). For fees and registration information, please see the OCPAQ site. We will review the process at Orientation.
