Students may take one elective course per term to be graded under the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option, to a maximum of 10% of the student's credits taken at McGill to fulfill their degree requirements. Any course taken under the S/U option may not count towards any minor/major/concentration or required course.
VERY IMPORTANT GCPA & Grad Schools
- McGill’s GCPA program will only accept S/U on prerequisite courses that were taken in the winter 2020 term; no other course that is required for admission to the GCPA program can have the S/U grading option
- In general, if the course is a requirement for a school or program to which you are applying, they may insist on a regular grade. Always verify the requirements for any school or program to which you plan to apply, as these may change. Be especially careful about schools that recalculate S/U grades as a C or F.
- The full regulations can be found in the eCalendar.
Deadline for submission to add an S/U is the LAST DAY OF ADD/DROP.
Removing the S/U option: the "withdrawal without refund" deadline
