Management Minors for Non-Management Students

The Minors for non-management students are currently under revision and we may have an updated curriculum for Fall 2023.

Application deadline: June 1 (applications are closed at this time)

The Faculty of Management has four Minors (for non-management students) that allow undergraduates to develop a variety of managerial skills that will serve them throughout their chosen careers.

Students may only apply if they have completed 8 courses at McGill - this includes in-progress Winter term courses. Students may not switch minors once they have been accepted.

Admission Requirements

  • Minors have limited enrolment.
  • Applicants must have completed a minimum of 8 courses (24 graded credits) before applying for a minor. You may only apply once your Winter grades are all in.
  • Applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (this does not guarantee acceptance).
  • Law students: we are aware of your grading standards and it will be taken into consideration during our review process
  • Education students: B.A. Education students in Major in Education in Global Contexts may apply to Minor in Management ONLY. Students in B.Ed. may not apply to Management minors.
  • All students should consult with their faculty or departmental advisor before applying, to ensure that they are meeting their faculty rules and restrictions concerning the maximum number of credits taken outside of their faculty.
  • Doing management courses prior to admission will not have any influence on your application.
  • May not be pursuing or have completed a Minor in Management, Marketing, Finance, Operations Management, or Entrepreneurship (for Non-Management students).
  • Students entering U3 or their final year will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis as it may be difficult to finish the minor before graduation.

Deadline

  • Minor Applications are due by June 1, replies should start going out in July - early responses are not given.
  • Students will be informed via their McGill email address concerning their application (replies might come as late as August).
  • Once you are accepted in the Minor, we will help you get into any courses you would need to ensure you are not delaying graduation.

About the Minor

  • All Minors are composed of 18 credits of Management courses.
  • If you take courses towards a minor prior to being accepted - they will count towards the minor.
  • 6 credits maximum that can be transferred from any institution other than McGill University (exchange, study away, etc). Please consult with the BCom office.
  • All Minors for Non-Management Students require an application.
  • Courses for Minors must be passed with grades of C or better.
  • Students pursuing a Joint Honours Economics Finance or Accounting may not pursue any of the minors in management.
  • Courses for Minors cannot be taken under the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option.
  • Students can only pursue ONE of the Minors offered by the Faculty of Management.
  • Courses done through the School of Continuing studies will not be allowed to count for their minor.
  • Students who take an equivalent statistics course in another faculty may not count those credits towards any minor even if the equivalent statistics course(s) permits moving on to other courses.
