In-Course Awards Convocation Awards Application Forms & Deadlines External Awards
General Information
- Applications are required for scholarships that recognize academic excellence in combination with leadership, extracurricular involvement, or community engagement.
- Awards that are based on academic performance only do not require an application. Selected students will be informed in the summer.
- Please note that academic awards may also include donor-specific eligibility criteria. In addition to academic performance, some awards may be limited by factors such as year of study, program, or other terms set by the donor.
- In-Course Scholarships, when awarded, are deposited to the student’s fee account for the following academic year. Recipients must remain full-time students to retain the award. Students expecting to graduate in the winter term, or in the following summer or fall term, are not eligible to apply.
- The Dean’s Honour List for returning students is calculated automatically by the BCom Student Affairs Office and will appear on the transcript of students who rank in the top 10% of their class. To be eligible, students must have completed either:
- 27 graded credits (not including S-U grades) across the Fall and Winter terms at McGill, or
- 14 graded credits (not including S-U grades) in one term at McGill if they were on exchange or on Leave of Absence in the other term
In-Course Awards (Returning Students)
Requirements to Qualify
- To be eligible to apply for In-Course Scholarships, students must be returning to and continuing in the BCom program in the following academic year. Students who transfer to another Faculty after June 1 are not eligible for Management prizes.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of 27 graded credits (not including S-U grades) across the Fall and Winter terms, or 14 graded credits (not including S-U grades) in one term at McGill if they were on exchange or on Leave of Absence in the other term. Credits earned during the summer term are not considered.
- In-Course Scholarships are assessed based on the sessional GPA from the previous Fall and Winter terms. For students who were at McGill for only one of those two terms, assessment is based on the GPA from that one McGill term.
- Fall graduates are not eligible to apply for In-Course Scholarships. They may instead apply for Convocation Awards in the following May competition.
Convocation Awards (Graduating Students)
Requirements to Qualify:
- Convocation awards are based on cumulative GPA. Students may be part-time in their final term.
