CIBC donates $1.25M to the Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI) at McGill Desautels
“We are proud to be a founding member of the Sustainable Growth Initiative at McGill University. With new and intensifying environmental challenges, this partnership will help drive solutions to enable a more sustainable and inclusive economy.” Susan Rimmer, Managing Director & Head, Global Corporate and Investment Banking, CIBC.
The CIBC Office of Sustainable Finance just completed their second Transformative Business Law Summer Academy.
The CIBC Office of Sustainable Finance (OSF) under McGill’s Sustainable Growth Initiative is an interdepartmental initiative between Desautels Faculty of Management and McGill’s Faculty of Law, specifically the Faculty’s inaugural ‘Business Law Platform.’ Since 2022, the Office has been led by Professor Peer Zumbansen, an internationally renowned scholar and award-winning teacher in corporate law, comparative private law, transnational regulatory governance and climate change governance.
The OSF has been instrumental in fostering a number of joint innovations, including the launch of McGill’s first-ever research paper series with the Social Sciences Research Network, the McGill SGI Research Papers in Business, Finance, Law & Society, the Business & Society Speaker and Workshop series, the ESG Spring and Fall conferences, and the McGill Business Law Meter blog.
In 2023, the OSF and the Business Law Platform inaugurated the Transformative Business Law Summer Academy, an international, week-long, intensive policy research and writing institute. The 2023 Academy published the internationally recognized 2023 Academy Impact Paper, setting the precedent for the second rendition of the Academy from 4-9 May, 2025.
