Published: 12 June 2023

McGill Desautels Faculty of Management alum Tim Thompson (MBA’90) served as the keynote speaker at this year’s Lavender Grad, an event celebrating the graduation of McGill students who identify as two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, trans, queer, intersex, or non-binary. Thompson, Senior Vice-President of Corporate Evolution and Change Enablement at TD Bank and an MBA graduate of McGill University, emphasized that the event was not only a celebration of academic achievements but also a recognition of resilience, diversity, and the ongoing journey toward acceptance and equality. In addition to his business line responsibilities, he is Chair of TD's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Two-Spirit (LGBTQ2+) Executive Steering Committee, Board Member of the Governor General Leadership Conference, and Chair of the McGill University Toronto Advisory Board. Thompson has also been recognized for three consecutive years (2018-2020) as a Yahoo! Finance OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Model.

Acknowledging the start of Pride Month, Angela Campbell, Associate Provost (Equity & Academic Policies), encouraged graduates to continue challenging norms and make contributions to the McGill community.
