Dr. Adrian Dancea Recognized for his Efforts in Co-creating the GCHM

Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management (GCHM)
Published: 15 January 2022

Congratulations to Dr. Adrian Dancea, co-director of the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management on receiving some well-deserved praise from Dr. Beth Foster, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at McGill University. In addition to his role as co-director of the GCHM, Dr. Dancea is the Director of the Division of Cardiology, the Associate Chair of Finance and Chair of the MSSA Budget Subcommittee at the Montreal Children's Hospital.

In an internal email to the department, Dr. Foster highlights Dr. Dancea’s genuine care for his patients, his colleagues, and the institution as a whole, as well as his leadership in creating, in collaboration with the McGill Desautels Faculty of Management, a unique and innovative Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management program.

This program, which welcomed its first cohort on Jan. 10, 2022, is the result of over three years of hard work on Dr. Dancea and co-director Leslie Breitner’s part. Students in the program will be able to complete their studies online, part-time, without having to interrupt their clinical practice. The curriculum was designed to address the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada CANMEDS Leader role key competencies.

“Developing a new graduate program is no small feat. Doing this while leading a division and carrying a very heavy clinical load is truly remarkable,” Dr. Foster wrote.
