McGill MBA Full-Time International study trip

An essential part of the McGill MBA curriculum

About the international study trip

How can you make a meaningful impact on the world without truly understanding it? The international study trip is not just an experience but a requirement for the McGill MBA and to foster a global mindset for our leaders of tomorrow. It takes place during the first winter term of the program and is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of international business. This 10-day trip typically begins in mid-April and ensures students return in time for their internships or summer courses.

The trip offers the opportunity to:

  • Visit a prominent international business hub.
  • Engage with multiple companies and senior executives.
  • Explore the strategic and operational considerations in entering and operating in foreign markets.
  • Gain cross-cultural experiences and deepen your understanding of the cultural context.
  • Forge long-lasting relationships with peers.

This immersive course enables you and your cohort to experience global business dynamics firsthand. Through on-site visits, workshops, and interactions with business leaders, you will gain insights into the strategic "why" and "where" of global expansion, as well as the tactical "how" of market entry and operations.

How it works

  • Experiential Learning: Participate in company visits, workshops, seminars, and field projects.
  • Real-World Application: Engage in activities such as presentations, group projects, and field surveys to contextualize your classroom learning.
  • Cohort Collaboration: Work closely with your peers and interact with international business representatives to deepen your understanding of global markets.

An unforgettable opportunity to expand your global perspective by immersing yourself in a new country and culture, learning differing economic systems, and social issues that prepare you to excel as a future leader.
