Career & Professional Development program
A comprehensive professional development program that includes a combination of workshops, peer-to-peer learning and additional resources. The program addresses three key skillsets that are crucial to landing and succeeding in a post-MBA role: Communication, problem-solving and mindset.
The program is divided into 5 core workshops:
- Professional Essentials: Must-have mindset and business basics (CV, cover letter, networking, etc)
- Problem Solving: Fundamental skills required for success
- Crafting Documents: Building communication docs effectively
- Influencing Others: Getting things done
- Personal Presence: Standing out from the crowd
The Desautels MBA Mentoring Program at McGill supports mentees (students) by offering mentoring relationships, learning events and networking opportunities. The framework and structure allow our students to engage in significant dialogue with mid to senior level business leaders that will help students leverage their MBA experience in the workplace.
As part of the mentoring program all students have access to McGill Alumni Connect (MAC). The online platform allows students to easily connect with hundreds of Alumni and ask for career advice, resume review and gain valuable insights.
Additionally, students may make a request for a one-to-one mentor match. Students are matched with mentors based upon a number of factors including student objectives and priorities for the mentoring relationship, mentor areas of expertise etc. The mentoring relationship is in place until the student graduates from the MBA program.
