Dobson startup tour showcases Desautels entrepreneurial spirit

In fall, the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship went on the road as part of its annual Startup Tour. The six-week tour provided an opportunity for 10 teams to generate a buzz around their projects and network with industry experts and potential investors.

Desautels places second at Lazaridis International Case Conference

A Desautels BCom team has secured second place at the 2019 Lazaridis International Case Conference.

During the week of October 13–19, 12 schools from around the world gathered for the event at Wilfried Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Desautels was represented by four BCom students: Devon Haye, Sara Duklas, Aleem Damji, and Angel Miao.

BCom100 Campaign will pave the way for future generations of students

In 2021, McGill University will celebrate its 200th anniversary. To set the stage for another 200 years of impact, the University has launched its Made by McGill campaign with a goal to raise $2 billion.

Before McGill turns 200, the Desautels Faculty of Management will celebrate an exciting milestone in 2020: 100 years since our first class of Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) students graduated and went out into the world to leave their mark.

Alumnus uses sustainability education to grow urban agriculture business

Inspired by his studies in Entrepreneurship and Managing for Sustainability, Thibault Sorret (BCom’18) has accepted a management role at a Montreal-based urban agriculture company. Lufa Farms, co-founded by alumna Lauren Rathmell, uses hydroponics to grow pesticide-free vegetables, fruits, and other plants for 17,000 local customers.

BCom student retires from competitive snowboarding

After sustaining a series of injuries, 21-year-old BCom student Océane Fillion has officially retired from competitive snowboarding. While she vows to hit the slopes as often as she can, the former Slopestyle and Big Air champion will focus on earning a business degree at McGill University and acting as a coordinator for the Quebec Snowboard Association.

Alumnus Mirko Bibic named next President & CEO of Bell Canada

Mirko Bibic (BCom ’89) will succeed George Cope as the next President and CEO of Bell Canada next January.

Since he joined Bell Canada in 2004, Bibic has played a pivotal role in the company’s strategic acquisitions, including the largest acquisition in Canadian telecom history with the purchase of Astral Media in 2013.
