Desautels Faculty of Management BCom students make the finals at Global Business Challenge (GBC)

Published: 11 April 2006

McGill BCom students put their case analysis and presentation skills to the test once again in a case competition where they competed against other business students from across the world. Held at the University of Washington Business School in Seattle, the annual Global Business Challenge took place from April 3 to 8, 2006. Sixteen teams from 14 countries competed on a real-life business case about the "Redevelopment of a War-Ravaged Economy: The Case of Bosnia-Herzegovina."

McGill's team consisted of fourth-year BCom students Alex Bondar, Maithili Sagar, Felicia Snyder and Stacey Venasse. In the preliminary round, McGill competed against teams from Louisiana, Japan and Bulgaria. Due to their exceptional performance in this first round, the McGill team moved on to the finals, competing against Brazil, New Zealand and the host Washington teams. Although Brazil eventually won the competition, the McGill team truly represented themselves and our school in a most positive light.

A special thanks goes to Larry Goldsman and Richard Donovan, who coached the team, and to Mr. Goldsman, who also accompanied the team to Seattle.
