Warning: CryptoLocker Virus is back again - don't open attachments

There is currently a virus infecting computers via email attachments.  In the latest fraud reported at McGill, the subject of the email is You have received a voice mail, and the attachment contains the virus.

If you receive any emails containing .ZIP file attachments, DO NOT open them.

Students / Home users: If your computer is infected with the CryptoLocker virus, please do not share any files with other users, or upload them to myCourses. Contact your antivirus service provider immediately.  Remember to keep your antivirus software up to date to help protect against these types of threats. If you have not yet installed Trend Micro Titanium antivirus, please do.

Faculty and Staff: If your computer is infected with the CryptoLocker virus, please shut down your computer immediately and notify the IT Administrator in your department. Units that are supported by central IT Services, contact the IT Service Desk at 514-398-3398.
