Three-day modification to reduced-mobility route due to drilling intervention next to Leacock

From Monday, Jan. 27 to Wednesday, Jan. 29, the pedestrian and reduced-mobility passage between the Leacock Building and Doctor-Penfield Avenue will be closed during the day (6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) due to drilling work planned as part of the Leacock project (see attached plan).

Update on Leacock construction project

The construction project around the Leacock Building is advancing on schedule.

The work carried out in the past few months included the demolition of the terrace and other concrete structures to the west and south of the building, excavation work and construction of a retention basin. We have also been repairing the exterior structural columns around the building.

Excavation of McIntyre lane – Reduced-mobility access

As part of the McIntyre Garage renovation project, the lane behind the Bellini Building will be excavated and rebuilt from Peel St. to the Bellini Building entrance.

This work will be carried out from October 7, 2019 to November 4, 2019.

During this time, access to the buildings adjacent to the garage will be modified as follows for reduced-mobility users (see also this map):

Sept. 3, 2019 - City work on Peel St. to last until end of September

The City of Montreal has announced that they will continue working on Peel St. throughout the month of September 2019.

The work will be conducted from Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the street configuration will remain the same as in the last few weeks:

Aug. 14, 2019 - Leacock south terrace closed for next year

Starting the week of Aug. 19, 2019, the Leacock Building south terrace will be closed for construction. Pedestrians will still be able to walk between lower campus and McTavish Street using the McTavish Gates pathway.

The Leacock Building will still be accessible from the stairwell, and Morrice Hall from McTavish Street. Reduced-mobility users will be able to enter Leacock using the east side ground-floor entrance.

Update on University Centre reopening

As you know, an extensive renovation project is underway at the University Centre. The HVAC and electrical distribution systems are being replaced and the work is taking longer than initially expected. The project will continue into the summer, and based on the current progress, we expect the work to be completed in time for the building to reopen by the start of the next academic year. We will continue to update you should this schedule change.

City work on Peel St. to resume on April 1

The City of Montreal construction work on Peel St. will resume on Monday, April 1, 2019 and continue until the end of July 2019.

The work will be performed from Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The southbound vehicle lane will be closed to vehicular traffic between Pine Ave. and Sherbrooke St. for the duration of the project. One northbound lane will remain open.

One sidewalk (east/west alternating) will remain accessible at all times.
