Construction Starts: Wong - CFI JELF Oct 2022, Huberman – Lab 5270

Please be advised that McGill University has mandated CORENOV Contractors to carry out the work associated with the project hereafter: 22-013 Wong - CFI JELF Oct 2022, Huberman - Lab 5270

Description: To construct a laser enclosure in Laboratory 5270 and integrate its services with the building’s existing infrastructure.

Construction start date: May 14, 2025

Planned construction end date: July 04, 2025

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Scope of work:

The work consists of:

  • Supply and erection of a prefabricated enclosure to house new laser equipment at Laboratory 5270.
  • Demolition and construction work required to integrate the new enclosure services with the building’s existing mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
  • Planned shutdowns of the sprinkler system and the electrical panel servicing Laboratory 5270 to facilitate the integration works.

Impact & mitigation:

  • The construction area will be physically separated from adjacent laboratories where research activities are ongoing, to minimize disruption and ensure safety.
  • Electrical Shutdown
    • To be coordinated with laboratory users and building administration.
    • Affected personnel will be notified in advance by the building administration.
  • Sprinkler System Shutdown to be coordinated with the Fire Prevention Office to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Local Ventilation and Plumbing Shutdowns will be limited to the designated work zone and will not impact surrounding areas.

Safety considerations:

  • A clearly defined perimeter will be established around the work zone to prevent entry by unauthorized personnel.
  • Access to the work zone is strictly limited to authorized individuals equipped with the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
