Ms. Constance V. Pathy named to the Order of Canada.

Ms. Constance V. Pathy  is among the 90 newest appointees to the Order of Canada, announced December 30th, 2013  by former McGill principal David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. The honour, established in 1967 by the Queen, recognizes contributions to Canada; its motto, desiderantes meliorem patriam, means "they desire a better country." Appointees are made on the recommendation of an independent advisory council headed by Canada's Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Beverley McLachlin. Constance V. Pathy, C.M., C.Q., was named a Member of the Order of Canada for her contributions to the vitality of classical dance and music in Quebec through her leadership and generosity. The Schulich School of Music is privileged to be a recipient of her unfailing devotion to musical excellence.

A graduate of McGill in both cello and viola da gamba, Constance Pathy has also served on the Faculty Advisory Board of the Schulich School of Music since 1991.  Her above-and-beyond dedication to enriching musical life here at the School includes her generous support of the McGill International String Quartet Academy.  Founded in 2010,  MISQA brings some of the world’s finest professional and student string quartets to McGill each August. She is also president of the Ladies Morning Musical Club, one of Canada’s top chamber music presenters.  The LMMC has been bringing exceptional talent to Pollack Hall for decades.  

Constance Pathy is also the recipient of the Order of Québec and the Ramon-John Hnatyshyn Award.
