Web Management System (WMS)
IT Services will be performing maintenance on McGill's Enterprise Storage Systems on Wednesday, June 18, at 9:00 pm to 6:00 am on Thursday, June 19. This 9-hour overnight downtime will impact sites running on the WMS 2014/ Drupal 7, but will not affect Drupal 6 sites including the McGill home page.
The search functionality on McGill websites has been improved. Previously, you would have to first choose whether you wanted to search the local site or expand your search to include all McGill sites. Now you can enter your search term once at the top of the web page, and you will be presented with a single page with two tabs : one containing matches within the local site and a “McGill” tab containing matches found within all McGill sites.
McGill IT Services introduced the Drupal-based Web Management System (WMS) about 2 ½ years ago, giving us a cleaner, more modern and better structured system to support our 650+ websites.
Over the next few months we will be upgrading the software that runs our websites to Drupal version 7 so we can benefit from advances made by the Drupal open source community.
A maintenance operation will be performed for McGill's Web System on April 4, 2013 from 8:00 am to 8:30 am. There will be no interruption for web sites on the WMS; however the expanded Search will not be functional during the maintenance window, and sites that rely on the WPS (Web Publishing Software) will be unavailable.
Maintenance on all McGill web sites scheduled for Tuesday March 12 between 7 to 9 am has been postponed until further notice.
On October 24, 2012, McGill Safety will be conducting tests of the emergency communications tools, which are designed to notify the McGill community of urgent situations and keep users safe.
