Human-centred planning is key to AI adoption
As organizations introduce AI-powered HR portals, Simon Blanchette, adjunct lecturer at McGill University, argues that technology alone cannot improve efficiency. Successful adoption requires purposeful planning, clear guidelines and employee training before systems are deployed.
“The human in the loop is only as good as how well-trained the humans are,” Blanchette said, stressing that employees need recourse when AI produces harmful or inaccurate information. He also cautions that self-service tools should not replace leadership responsibilities. Instead, organizations should test AI through pilot projects, build trust and maintain human oversight.
For Blanchette, effective AI adoption must remain firmly focused on people.
