The Preston Robb – Mierin Family Neurological Day Centre is here to provide focused care for patients with neurological conditions, aiming to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations, reduce hospital stays, and ensure timely access to treatments, all while working to avoid emergency room visits. Our new Centre is equipped with 9 treatment chairs, 4 stretchers, and a private room.
As a nurse-managed facility, we offer services like intravenous therapies and monitoring for pre- and post-diagnostic tests and surgeries under local anesthesia. Our nurses work closely with interdisciplinary teams at MNH, MUHC, and other network partners to provide tailored care, whether it’s a single visit or ongoing treatment over months or years.
We primarily serve patients with conditions such as myositis, neuropathies, CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy), multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and migraines. Most of our treatments involve intravenous therapies like immunoglobulins, IV steroids, and chemotherapy.
We also support patients before and after diagnostic procedures, including lumbar punctures, nerve and muscle biopsies, and carpal tunnel surgeries, with physiotherapy often being part of the care plan.
For same-day referrals, we’re prepared to handle urgent cases like MS relapses or severe migraines.
Our specialized nurses also provide coverage to various clinics, enhancing the quality of care we offer and are highly appreciated by our patients for their expertise.
