Parkinson’s Disease - Québec Parkinson’s Network (QPN)
The Quebec Parkinson Network’s main mission to promote multidisciplinary research on Parkinson's disease. The QPN is now offering its patients the opportunity to participate to the repository.
Who is recruited?
Parkinson’s patients or healthy individuals who have reported cases of the illness in their family
What is collected?
DNA Extraction (blood sample and saliva), PBMC and serum
Goal of Collection?
Creation of a DNA library (conservation of samples and possible creation of stem cells for DNA characterization)
Intellectual Deficiencies - CHU Sainte-Justine
CHU Sainte-Justine is the largest mother and child centre in Canada and one of the four most important pediatric centres in North America. Our mission is to improve health on the whole in affiliation with our health care, university and research partners.
Saint-Justine is looking to amass a collection of blood from patients with intellectual deficiencies to the Repository for storage and possible stem cell collection These materials are all collected with local Sainte-Justine Research Ethics Board (REB) approval.

Goal of collection?

Myopathy - The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Hospital-Institute) [Pending]
Pending REB and TDC approval, a research team consisting of Dr. Brais, Dr. O’Ferrall, and Dr. Karamchandani, will be directing patients with likely inherited (genetic) myopathies for inclusion to the C-BIG Repository. The collect will consist of blood and muscle tissue sampling. The DNA of these samples will be analyzed for possible genetic causes of myopathy.
