Private institution credit lines and loans

Many students choose a credit line or loan to finance their MBA studies. The Desautels Faculty of Management has an exclusive partnership with Desjardins, Canada's largest financial cooperative group for Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Students can apply for a credit line of up to $90,000 at a highly preferential rate, and consists of student-specific financial products and services. Government loans and bursaries

Many federal and provincial government institutions provide funding for students:

  • The Canadian Government offers a variety of programs to help students finance their education. To learn more, visit the Government of Canada website.
  • To learn more about provincial loan programs visit the site of the Student Financial Assistance Office of the student’s province or territory of residence.

  • Tax credits and RRSP withdrawals

    All candidates should consult their tax advisor for further advice on their specific situation.

    Tuition tax credit

    Students may be eligible to claim a tuition tax credit, the purpose of which is to allow students to reduce their income taxes by taking into account tuition fees. For more information please visit Canada Revenue Agency Tuition Tax Credit

    Note: Tuition fees paid by an employer on a student's behalf that are not included in income are not eligible for the tuition tax credit.

    Education tax credit

    RRSP withdrawals

    The student or their spouse may be eligible to withdraw annual amounts of up to $10,000 from their RRSPs to finance the student’s MBA education. Visit the Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) to learn more.
