This workshop will teach you how to recognize corruption in international business. It will introduce you to relevant legislation, and it will also discuss what strategies businesses can adopt to prevent these problems. Topics covered will include:

  • Why is corruption an issue? Why does it matter for international business?
  • How to tell what laws will apply to you. Introducing OECD Treaty, Canadian legislation, US FCPA and UK legislation (as most common for Canadian business). What about local law?
  • What is commonly prohibited? What are the penalties? What are the exceptions?
  • Some actual cases and trends
  • How do values and cultural norms come into play?
  • What to do if you may have breached?
  • What are some preventive steps businesses can take?

About Franca Ciambella

Franca Ciambella is a highly qualified lawyer, mediator and advisor with an excellent business background and acumen, and a solid track record operating at top levels in large global firms and multinational organizations.
