Convention de stage
The Convention de Stage is an internship agreement between the intern, McGill, and the host organization.
Please note: McGill cannot provide students with the standard French Convention de stage, but can approve a Déclaration relative à la participation d'un étudiant à une activité étudiante for current students. We will not review or approve any other version of the convention de stage.
- In order to issue a Déclaration relative à la participation d'un étudiant à une activité étudiante, the student must be registered in full time studies at the Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University at the time of the request. The student must be returning to full time studies after their stage has ended.
- A mandatory internship program is not in place in the Bachelor of Commerce Program hence we will be unable to provide a Déclaration relative à la participation d'un étudiant à une activité étudiante to employers who request that the stage be a mandatory part of the student’s curriculum.
The student is no longer a full time student at McGill once they have completed their program. If an employer allows for a non-returning McGill graduate to apply to a Déclaration relative à la participation d'un étudiant à une activité étudiante, such a request must be made and completed by all parties before the last day of the student's final semester (i.e. for Spring 2022 graduates, the date would be April 30, 2022).
Please submit your request via email to recruitdesautels.mgmt [at] mcgill.ca (our office) including:
- Student name and ID number
- Student graduation date
A number of very generous alumni listed below assist with the funding of internship experiences. The Soutar Career Centre has pooled these resources and created a partnership with Emzingo to provide a unique fully funded 8-week experience for our students including Professional Development and Cultural Immersion. Students are mentored and work in groups to complete meaningful projects in non-profits or social enterprises in the host country. Application deadlines and registration varies— please refer to weekly BCom Career Newsletter sent to your McGill email in the summer/fall so you do not miss out on important dates.

Students will find job postings under the OCR Summer & Internship categories on myFuture.
For additional information on internships, visit the Internship Offices Network.
The Desautels Faculty of Management does not have a formal internship program in place at the undergraduate level (Bachelor of Commerce). Consequently, internship positions are not restricted to the Summer term, although it becomes the students’ decision to accept a Fall or Winter term internship. In doing so they opt to take a term off school and extend their graduation date. Please visit the BCom office to discuss how Fall or Winter term internship can impact a student academically.
Students interested in completing an internship during the Fall/Winter terms are responsible for the internships that they accept and assessing how the internship will impact their academic studies. Certain courses and their pre-requisites are offered once a year and therefore students are strongly urged to review the time-line of their program to determine feasibility of accepting an internship during the Fall/Winter terms
If the student accepts an internship during the Fall/Winter terms, it is their responsibility to notify the BCom office prior to accepting the internship.
