Problem with staff email: some messages with attachments incorrectly quarantined

McGill IT Services has identified the following problem on one of the staff email servers:

Starting at around 2:00 am Saturday, June 4, email messages containing attachments were incorrectly quarantined by the Exchange email security system (a level of quarantine that does not involve the anti-spam system).  This Exchange server is used by about 50% of staff members and is not used by students or alumni.

IT Services staff have resolved the issue and plan to release the quarantined messages to affected users as soon as possible.

Note that if you had a message that was incorrectly quarantined, you will receive a new message, containing the attachment.  The new email message will look something like this:

From: Support 1st
Date: xx June, 2011 11:53:12 AM EDT
Subject: Microsoft Forefront Server Security forwarded attachment

The file attachment from the message "FW: [EMAIL SUBJECT]", originally sent to you by [SENDER NAME], has been forwarded to you from the Microsoft Forefront Server Security Quarantine area.
This attachment may have been re-scanned by Microsoft Forefront Server Security and handled according to the appropriate scan job's settings.
