Ratna Ghosh, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, has received the CIESC David Wilson Distinguished Service Award.
The Comparative and International Education Society of Canada/ Société canadienne d'éducation comparée et internationale (CIESC/SCECI) was founded in 1967 to promote comparative and international studies in Canadian education. The award was conferred May 30 in recognition of her "distinguished long service to the field of comparative and international education" at the 50th anniversary celebrations of CIESC during the recent 2017 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Toronto.
Dr. Ratna Ghosh is James McGill Professor and William C. Macdonald Professor of Education with the Faculty of Education's Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE). Dr. Ghosh was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.) in 2000, Officer of the Order of Quebec (O.Q.) in 2005, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (F.R.S.C.) in 1999. She is a Full Member of the European Academy of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, and a Fellow of The World Academy (TWAS) – for the advancement of science in the developing world. Her publications, grants and teaching reflect her varied research interests in comparative and international education.
