Collection description
Paul Helmer’s Growing with Canada Collection consists of source material collected by Dr. Paul Helmer and used as background research for his monograph - Growing with Canada: the émigré tradition in Canadian music, published by McGill-Queen’s University Press in 2009. The collection consists of interview transcripts, biographical information, copies of immigration source material, audio recordings of the interviews and photographs. The collection provides a glimpse a influence of European immigration on the musical landscape of Canada.
Dr. Paul Helmer (1938- ) is a Canadian pianist and musicologist, a former associate professor of musicology in the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
