Accessing McGill University Archives

  • Submit requests by refdesk.archives [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Request%20to%20consult%20McGill%20Archives) (email). Researchers should submit detailed requests and background information.
  • Request material you wish to consult in advance and schedule an appointment.
  • Requests are answered within 20 business days. Users will be informed if additional delays are necessary.
  • Response times are delayed due to preparation for our Fiat Lux movement of collections.
  • Most archival holdings are available. However, some documents may have restrictions on access.
  • Archival documents must be consulted on site in the Reading Room.

The following McGill libraries will be closed July 16–21 (inclusive): McLennan-Redpath Complex, Islamic Studies Library, and Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering. More info and list of libraries open July 16–21.
