The McGill University Libraries take seriously our responsibility to improve the equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility of our collections, services, space, and workforce. To guide our work, we created the the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) Action Plan 2024 . In this plan, we chose to build upon past EDIA-related work done in the McGill Libraries and to focus on advancing our organizational maturity. With this plan as a starting point, we will work incrementally, starting from the most emergent need and building up a pattern of improvement. Over the coming years, in collaboration with Equtiy@McGill, we will continue to advance our efforts.

Projects
The Libraries have a number of EDIA projects underway, some proposed in our EDIA Action Plan 2024, and others created after that time. Here are a few of particular interest, either underway or completed.
- We will provide more detailed information on study spaces in the Libraries and their accessibility characteristics. Included are elevator access, lighting, flooring and washrooms. (coming soon)
- We are working with the Student Accessibility and Achievement office to streamline the fulfilment process for accessible copies of printed material for users with perceptual disabilities. We will also ensure compliance with copyright regulations when making copies and make full use of all relevant exceptions to the law. (underway)
- We maintain an extensive list of past EDIA projects completed in the Libraries since 2017. The list currently contains 133 projects organized by 66 different individuals. Projects range from individual public blog posts and research articles by librarians to collection development, public events, and subject guides. (ongoing)
