Luciana Andrade Valençaobtained her medical degree (1997) and completed a neurology residency program in Recife, Brazil (2001) at the Federal University of Pernambuco. She also obtained a MSc (2003) and PhD (2005) degrees at University of São Paulo-Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. During her PhD she studied “familial versus sporadic mesial temporal lobe epilepsy: clinical/EEG aspects, hippocampal morphometry, neuroimaging and postoperative outcome, and the differences in the MRI findings between good-control and poor-control patients were evaluated during her MSc studies. Since 2005 she is neurologist of the University of Pernambuco, as the head of the Epilepsy Unit.
She was working at MNI September 2009 -December 2010, and her main research was focused on high frequency oscillationsintracranial recordingsin pharmacoresistent epileptic patients.
