Student Fellows Program

Integrated Management Student Fellows Program

The Integrated Management Student Fellows program is a unique leadership development experience designed to help you explore your purpose and develop professional competencies while working on some of society’s most pressing challenges.

We are prepared to conduct in-person as well as remote teaching and learning.

Applications for the Fall 2020/Winter 2021 Integrated Management Student Fellows Program (IMSF) are now open until June 21st, 2020.
The Fellowship runs two consecutive semesters – Fall 2020 & Winter 2021.

Learning Outcomes:

  • conduct research and approach problems with a critical, evidence-based lens
  • collaborate effectively with real-world stakeholders both inside and outside of the university
  • manage projects effectively through a variety of tools, frameworks and resources, as well as how to assess the impact of your work

The Fellowship has two synergistic components:

  • A faculty project, whereby you will apprentice with one or more Desautels professors to conduct research, build partnerships, and/or develop new courses or tools
  • An impact initiative, which you will design with a small group of students to advance one of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our community

These two components are linked through two consecutive 3-credit courses, in which you will:

  • Identify and develop skills and competencies that support your professional future
  • Reflect upon your values, sense of purpose and leadership style in order to become a more impactful leader
  • Learn tools, frameworks and resources for creating sustainable impact no matter which industry, sector or profession you pursue
  • Complete assignments that integrate your faculty project and impact initiative through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

This fellowship program is an important vehicle for experiential learning at the Desautels Faculty of Management to mainstream Sustainability in a cross-disciplinary and integrated manner. It is being managed by the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM).

Integrated Management Student Fellows Program
Winter 2018 - Winter 2020

In the past, this program was an experiential learning opportunity for BCom and MBA students to engage in faculty research and partnership development projects and received a financial award. This program has now scaled to the aforementioned version to provide this opportunity to a greater number of Desautels students and faculty members. Learn more below about the types of projects fellows engaged in the past five semesters. Many of these faculty projects are continuing in the next academic year.
