Professor Yolande E. Chan has been reappointed as Dean of the Desautels Faculty of Management for a second five-year term, effective July 1, 2026.

Dean Yolande Chan named Fellow of Royal Society of Canada
Yolande E. Chan, Dean and James McGill Professor at the Desautels Faculty of Management, has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), one of the country’s highest academic honours.
Recognized for her outstanding contributions to digital innovation, knowledge strategy, and business-IT alignment, Chan joins a distinguished cohort of scholars celebrated for advancing knowledge across disciplines.
Master's degree offering in Luxembourg brings McGill Desautels to Europe
McGill Desautels will offer its Master of Management in Finance program in Luxembourg. The version of the program delivered in Luxembourg will be the same as the one taught in Montreal. A strategic partnership between McGill, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL) and the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI).

The digital platform model of the gig economy can also create social good
Digital platforms like Uber and Airbnb bring buyers and sellers together and create gig economy opportunities that did not exist before them. But they have problems too, and have been criticized for exclusionary practices, digital surveillance, and other questionable policies. However, this type of platform also has the potential to create social value.
Dean Yolande Chan seeks to foster inclusivity, to generate future successes

Scarf Ceremony marks end of Spring Convocation season
As Spring Convocation season draws to a close, a Scarf Ceremony celebrating graduating Indigenous students was held on Monday, June 20th, during which 110 First Nations, Inuit and Métis students were honoured for completing their certificates and programs across McGill University's Schools and Faculties, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
