Borrowing in person at partner libraries

Who are the partner libraries and how can I contact them?

Partner libraries are not part of McGill but are using the McGill automated library system to loan their items. Currently they are the following (follow the links to get their contact information):

I am a student or staff member at McGill. Can I borrow from partner libraries?

The answer depends on the policy in effect at the partner library. Please consult the partner library for additional information.

  • Jewish General Hospital - Dr. Henry Kravitz Psychiatry Library: Borrowing is restricted to JGH staff, JGH researchers and McGill students and residents on rotation at the Jewish General Hospital, subject to local policies
  • Jewish General Hospital - Health Sciences Library: Borrowing is restricted to JGH staff, McGill students and residents on rotation at the Jewish General Hospital, and patients, subject to local policies
  • Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital Library: McGill staff and students may borrow, subject to local policies
  • Neuro-Patient Resource Centre: McGill staff and students may borrow, subject to local policies
  • Polish Institute: McGill staff and students may borrow, subject to local policies
  • Presbyterian College Library: McGill staff and students may borrow, subject to local policies

If you would like to borrow an item from a partner library but are not entitled to do so, please feel free to use the InterLibrary Loans Service at the McGill Library.

I have borrowed an item and would like to return it. Where do I return it?

Items borrowed from the partner libraries must be returned to the same location from which they were borrowed. If a partner item is accidentally returned to the McGill Library, this may result in late fines.

I have borrowed an item from a partner library. Can I renew it?

The answer depends on the borrowing policy in effect at the partner library. Please consult their staff for more information about renewals as well as for other information regarding such things as due dates and fines. Their contact information is available above.

Where can I pay fines?

Fines on items borrowed from partner libraries must be paid at the applicable partner library.

Can I request that an item be delivered to the partner library from McGill, or vice versa?

Unfortunately, neither McGill nor the partner library offers inter-campus delivery to accommodate these requests. However, borrowers from McGill are still able to make interlibrary loan (ILL) requests for items located in the partner libraries, and borrowers from the partner library can do the same with respect to McGill. For more information about borrowing from other libraries as a McGill user, please visit the Interlibrary Loan page (or the Life Sciences Library Interlibrary Loan page if applicable).

I work at a partner institution. Can I borrow from McGill Library?

You can request items from McGill through the Interlibrary loan service at your institution, or purchase a McGill Library Borrowing Card for six months or a year. For more information on Interlibrary loan at partner libraries, please check their websites or contact them directly.
