Borrowing in person at other universities

Information for graduate students, faculty and staff

Graduate students, faculty and staff of McGill University can borrow items in person from participating Canadian libraries (or see list by by province), subject to restrictions determined by individual libraries. To do so, you must first obtain a BCI card (Bureau de Coopération Interuniversitaire), which you will have to present, along with your McGill ID card, to the library from which you want to borrow. The BCI card will give you undergraduate borrowing privileges in that library. The BCI cards are available from the Loans Desk of any McGill branch library during regular service hours.

Information for McGill undergraduate students

Undergraduate students and faculty of McGill University can borrow items in person from participating Quebec libraries, subject to restrictions determined by individual libraries. To do so, you must first obtain a BCI card (Bureau de Coopération Interuniversitaire), which you will have to present, along with your McGill ID card, to the library from which you want to borrow. The BCI card will allow you to borrow up to three volumes for a maximum of 14 days, non-renewable, from that library.The BCI cards are available from the Loans Desk of any McGill branch library during regular service hours.
