Retired McGill faculty and staff enjoy the same borrowing privileges as active McGill faculty.

PhD students no longer registered because of non-compliance with the Time Limitation Policy but who require access to library resources to complete their thesis can obtain Library borrowing privileges and extend access to library e-resources.

Course lecturers have access to McGill library print and online material for the period of one year from the last hiring date. If their access is cut immediately after the end of their contract (temporary system issue), they should fill in the form, requesting a Course Lecturer extension. Once they receive a temporary account number, they have to get in touch with the branch library (hsslloans.library [at] mcgill.ca for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library) with the number to be assisted with completing the process.

McGill casual staff can obtain McGill Library borrowing cards. They must fill in the form, and their supervisor has to send an email confirming the end date of their employment to the branch library (hsslloans.library [at] mcgill.ca for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library). Once they receive a temporary account number, they have to get in touch with the branch library (hsslloans.library [at] mcgill.ca for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library) with the number to be assisted with completing the process.

Members of McGill's Community for Lifelong Learning (MCLL) can obtain McGill Library borrowing cards. They must fill in this form. Once they receive a temporary account number, they have to get in touch with the branch library (hsslloans.library [at] mcgill.ca for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library) with the number to be assisted with completing the process. To obtain their borrowing card, MCLL members must show proof of registration.

Students, faculty, and staff at McGill's Campus Outaouais can have library materials delivered to them by filling out the distance borrowing form.
