McGill Library Holiday Book Box for Centraide

Help the McGill Library raise money for Centraide of Greater Montreal by giving to a charity that supports nearly 350 agencies and projects in the Greater Montreal Area with the aim of breaking the cycle of poverty and social exclusion.

This year, the McGill Library is offering a one-time Holiday Book Box for a minimum donation of $5 (all proceeds go toward Centraide).

Register your vaccine passport for Fast-Pass sticker to gain quick access to McGill Library spaces & other venues

As of Wednesday, October 27, all users of McGill’s library system will need to show their vaccine passport and current McGill ID card to physically access library spaces. To quicken the check-in process, the Library is implementing a Fast-Pass sticker that will allow users to access library spaces while reducing lineups. The sticker will be placed on the McGill ID and will need to be shown to safety ambassadors at all Library entrances once the vaccine passport system is implemented.

Macdonald Campus Library (Barton Building) closed October 7 at 5:00PM

Please note that the Barton Building which houses the Macdonald Campus Library will be closing at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 7. This shutdown is necessary for Facilities to replace a fuse in an electrical panel.

All Library services & most branches closed October 11 (Thanksgiving Day)

Please note that all Library branches except for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library and the Nahum Gelber Law Library will be closed on Monday, October 11 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

The Humanities and Social Sciences Library (Redpath Library Building entrance) and Nahum Gelber Law Library will be open on October 11 from 10 am to midnight for study only.

No services will be offered.

EZProxy login page changes coming October 27

Off-campus Library users who need to access an electronic resource through the Library website, Sofia discovery tool (McGill catalogue), or through the "McGill Library Full Text" links in Google Scholar, are asked to log in to EZProxy with a McGill username and password before accessing the resource.

Sixth floor of McLennan Library Building closed September 10

Designated Conversation & Zoom Zones in Redpath & McLennan Library Buildings

Due to increased demand, conversation/ Zoom Zones were expanded in late September to include the main floors of the Redpath and McLennan Library Buildings in addition to the Cyberthèque.

First come, first served, earbuds/earphones are required.

Library building access for the start of the fall 2021 semester

Starting September 1, the Library will be open for University business ONLY.

Due to University directives, we will not be open to the general public at this time. 

Access will be limited to current McGill students, faculty, and staff.

HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service ends September 1

During the pandemic Library users have benefitted from the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). With the opening of the Library for the fall term on September 1, access to the physical stacks will be reinstated and our agreement with Hathi Trust will come to an end.
