Situation 10. You are a member of a Native nation in Quebec
*A break in enrolment may impact this QC resident situation.
Premise: All recognized Native persons living on Quebec territory may select this situation.
Consult the Quebec Ministry of Education's list of recognized nations.
For members of a nation in Quebec:
Document(s) required:
1) Your valid Certificate of Indian Status - QC issued by the federal government of Canada (both sides of card). Your card must indicate that you are a member of a recognized Quebec territory.
If your card does not indicate a recognized Quebec territory, you must also provide one of the following:
a) Band council letter - A letter signed by your band council and on band letterhead, attesting that you are a member of a Ministry-recognized Quebec nation.
b) James Bay Beneficiary card - If you are a James Bay Treaty beneficiary, a copy of your beneficiary card issued by the Cree Grand Council, as long as your beneficiary number is shown.
For Inuit beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Convention
Document(s) required:
1) Your valid Makivik society card
If your card does not indicate a recognized Quebec territory, you must also provide a letter from the Makivik Society confirming that you reside in Quebec. You may obtain this letter by contacting:
