Biography: 

Jim was appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate Markets at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in January 2010.  He is responsible for managing Caisse’s corporate credit portfolio, investing in public and private debt securities of Investment Grade and High Yield issuers. He is president of the Corporate Markets Investment Committee and is a member of the Fixed Income Management Committee.  He also sits on Caisse’s Infrastructure Portfolio Management Committee.

In December 2011, Jim was also appointed head of Caisse’s Québec Natural Resource Initiative. In this role, he is responsible for leading a cross-asset team of investment and research professionals focusing on private investment opportunities in Québec’s natural resources.

Jim began his career in 1988 at the Bank of Nova Scotia working in progressively senior roles in commercial banking. He joined the Corporate Debt team within Caisse’s Private Equity Group in 1998 where he was an investment director over an eight-year period.  In March 2006, Jim was appointed Vice President responsible for management of the newly created Infrastructure Debt portfolio and sat on the Private Equity Management Committee and the Debt Investment Committee.  From September 2008, he also co-managed the Corporate Debt portfolio.

Jim has a BA in Economics from Concordia University and a MBA from McGill University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
