David Klug

David Klug works as Managing Director at SMBC, a major Japanese multinational financial services group and holding company, implementing his skills in allocation and management. Prior to this role, David was a portfolio manager at Allspring Global, responsible for managing the Allspring Core team’s credit investments in the healthcare, consumer, and basic materials sectors.

Prior to joining Allspring in 2013, David was a vice-president in the Global Capital Markets (GCM) division at Morgan Stanley in New York. From 2006 to 2013 David worked in a variety of origination, structuring, and execution roles across GCM, and held leadership positions in healthcare equity capital markets, healthcare fixed income capital markets, and technology fixed income capital markets. Before his role at Morgan Stanley, David was an analyst in the Investment Banking Funds group at Macquarie in New York.

David graduated on the Dean’s List (BCom ’04) with concentrations in economics and finance. David was the President of the McGill Young Alumni Association of New York from 2007 to 2010. He was the first person to receive Morgan Stanley’s sponsorship to complete the Program for Leadership Development at the Harvard Business School in 2010. David is a CFA charter holder.
