Launch of the most powerful supercomputer in Canada
The installation of a new CLUMEQ supercomputer will allow high performance numerical simulation and visualisation.
Dr Bernard J. Shapiro, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University, invites media representatives to the official launch of the CLUMEQ supercomputer. The ceremony will take place on Monday, November 18, at 11:00 am.
CLUMEQ (Consortium Laval, UQAM, McGill et Est du Québec) has received grants totalling $8,000,000 from the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec for the installation of a supercomputer. This computer, the most powerful in Canada, will allow high-performance numerical simulation and visualization in disciplines as diverse as engineering, medicine, computer science, physical science, and environmental science.
Senior government, industry and university officials will join CLUMEQ researchers and funding agency representatives at the ceremony.
