Macdonald Campus welcomes new leadership
As we welcome the Fall semester, the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is pleased to announce the following appointments:
Sebastien Faucher
Associate Dean (Research)
Dr. Faucher obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the Université de Montréal in 2007 and joined our Faculty in July 2011. He has previously served as Acting Associate Dean (Research) in 2020.
Stephane Bayen
Associate Dean (Operations and Campus Development)
Professor Bayen has degrees from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie and the National University of Singapore. In this new position, Professor Bayen will be responsible for advancing the continuous improvement of our infrastructure operations and the strategic development of our campus.
Petra Rohrbach
Director of the Institute of Parasitology
Professor Rohrbach obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg in 2000 and joined our Faculty in 2008. She has most recently served as Acting/Interim Associate Vice-President (Macdonald Campus).
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Professor Salavati for his dedicated service as Director of the Institute.
Philippe Seguin
Chair of the Department of Plant Science
Dr. Seguin obtained his Ph.D. in Agronomy in 2000 from the University of Minnesota and joined our Faculty that same year. He previously served as Chair of the Department of Plant Science between 2009 and 2014 and as Acting Associate Dean (Research) between 2016 and 2017.
Saji George
Interim Chair of the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry
Professor George has B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Mahatma Gandhi University and a Ph.D. degree from the National University of Singapore. As well, Professor George holds a Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Nanotechnology for Food and Agriculture.

Professor Valérie Orsat has agreed to take on the role of Scientific Director while Dr. Patrick Cortbaoui becomes Senior Managing Director.
