Department of Animal Science

McGill's Department of Animal Science offers outstanding opportunities for study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, resulting in degrees that leave our students in an excellent position to choose their own future. Our Department is located on the Macdonald Campus of McGill University. It is ideally situated for our students who wish to put the theory of the classroom into effect in a practical agro-environmental setting. As one of the few remaining departments of Animal Science in North America with a fully-functional farm at its disposal, our students and researchers have the ability to take full advantage of our various animal facilities for teaching and research.

The Macdonald Campus is situated in the tourist town of Ste. Anne de Bellevue, at the western tip of the island of Montreal.  Ste. Anne is part of the greater Montreal metropolitan area and about 30km from the downtown centre.

Our Campus is renowned for having the best of both worlds - wide-open spaces (650 hectares in fact!) on the shores of Lac St. Louis while still within easy reach of the hustle and bustle of downtown Montreal via city train and bus or the inter-Campus shuttle service (free for students).
