Meetings with Books: Special Collections in the 21st Century
This book grew out of the symposium “Meetings with Books: Raymond Klibansky, Special Collections and the Library in the 21st Century,” held at McGill University, March 20, 2013. Meetings with Books includes: a historical survey of McGill’s special collections; a tribute to humanist scholar and book collector Raymond Klibansky; short essays on how historical book collections connect with current forms and directions in teaching, research, and learning in the digital age; and a keynote address by writer, anthologist, and essayist Alberto Manguel. The essays are complemented by a selection of more than fifty illustrated vignettes, highlighting the range and types of special collections at McGill University Library and Archives.
